The Sedgwick County Extension office is exploring opportunities with regard to “local food” in the Wichita area. They are doing a survey to gauge interest in local foods and attitudes toward Kansas agriculture and will be planning some events and programs based on the results of the survey to help strengthen our local food system. Please take the survey and pass it on to anyone in the Wichita area that is interested in local food!

Volunteer for the Boys and Girls Club!

The Boys and Girls Club has a one-time volunteer opportunity available for 15 YP’s. The Club Launch Job Prep program will take its current participants to JC Penny-Towne East for an exclusive shopping experience on Saturday May 22, 2010 from 8-10am. They would like YP’s who are willing to help each young adult select and outfit (within specified budget) that is appropriate for interviewing. Participating YP’s are invited to join them for a free meal & certificate presentation immediately following.

iSi Environmental Services Makes 2010 Inner City 100 List

iSi Environmental Services has been selected for the 2010 Inner City 100, a list of the fastest-growing inner city companies in the United States. The list is produced by the Boston-based not-for-profit Initiative for a Competitive Inner City. The Inner City 100 program recognizes successful inner city companies and their CEOs as role models for entrepreneurship, innovative business practices and job creation in America’s urban communities.


They are number 23 on the list. The rankings were announced at the Inner City 100 Awards Dinner on Wednesday in Boston. Be sure to congratulate them!
